Halifax Composting Facility State of the Art In-Vessel Processing
The Halifax Composting Facility, acquired by Convertus in 2025 through the AIM acquisition, is a state-of-the-art fully enclosed in-vessel composting site serving Nova Scotia. The facility features fully enclosed, in-vessel aerated static pile composting with an integrated in-vessel maturation process. This approach significantly shortens processing time while improving the quality of the finished compost.
Additionally, the facility incorporates AIM’s advanced multi-step screening and product refinement system. This process uses sophisticated separation technologies to effectively remove both light and heavy contaminants, ensuring a high-quality end product.
To address environmental concerns, the facility is equipped with an odour treatment system designed with 33% redundancy, minimizing any potential off-site odour impact. The facility has the capacity to process up to 66,000 tonnes of organics annually and can be expanded as needed.
