Convertus London Hosts Fanshawe Students for Facility Tour

Fanshawe College’s Operations Management students visited the London Facility for an insightful tour
On Friday, September 20th, Convertus London welcomed 30 students from Fanshawe College’s Operations Management program for a tour of their in-vessel composting facility. This visit provided the students with an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the processes behind Convertus’ operations, and an up-close look at how the London facility contributes to sustainability and resource recovery.
The group was divided into three smaller teams for focused, hands-on sessions. One group attended a presentation on the West Pad area, where discussed the organizational structure of Convertus, specifically highlighting the environmental benefits of the London facility, and Convertus’ corporate social governance commitments.
Another team participated in a virtual walkthrough of the day-to-day operations, guided via live camera feeds, while the third group toured the compost shelter to examine the final compost product. During this session, the students received an overview of end products, learning about the process from handling requests for proposals (RFPs) to providing compost to local farmers.
Throughout the tour, a Convertus team member facilitated the movement between sections, ensuring everyone had the chance to gain a full understanding of the facility’s operations. It was a day that truly highlighted strong collaboration and within Convertus.
The students were enthusiastic and inquisitive, asking thoughtful questions throughout the tour about both the mechanics of the facility, and its broader environmental impact. Their interest extended to industry trends and sustainability practices.
As a follow-up to the tour, the students will be working on a project to propose recommendations for improvements at the London facility. The Convertus team is excited to continue this collaboration and looks forward to seeing their innovative ideas. This partnership underscores Convertus’ commitment to fostering education and supporting the next generation of operations managers.
