Convertus makes London Healthier and Leafier

October 8, 2021

Each year, Convertus supports ReForest London and The Million Tree Challenge by hosting a Neighbourhood Tree Giveaway for local residents. This Challenge aims to improve the environmental and human health of the planet by planting one million trees. To date, Convertus has helped over 800 trees find new homes.

This year’s giveaway took place on a sunny Saturday afternoon from 11AM to 3PM at Convertus’ Commissioners Road location. There were several types of trees available including Tulip Trees, Sugar Maples, Red Oak, Pagoda Dogwood and Pin Cherry. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the giveaway used a hybrid-model of online registration and walk-ins in addition to masking, physical distancing and contact tracing.

Matthew Straatman, Assistant Controller for Convertus biked from Lucan to the Head Office location in London to volunteer for his second year in a row. “Volunteering with the team at ReForest London was important to us because we want to give back to the community and promote sustainable practices” said Straatman. “And what better way to do that than planting trees to clean the air we breathe!”

The Million Tree Challenge is nearing the halfway point at 475,369. Convertus has participated by sponsoring Tree Depots, volunteering to plant trees and registering our trees.
