Composting
WTT specializes in composting of organic waste. Composting is an efficient process to turn organics into a valuable fertilizer or refuse derived fuel.
The WTT In-vessel composting technology is an advanced and robust system that ensures maximum process efficiency and minimal emissions.
Why Compost?
Less Garbage
Organics represent over one-third of materials being sent to landfills, and over 50% of total waste.
Reduce Gases
Organics represent over one-third of materials being sent to landfills, and over 50% of total waste.
Recover Valuable Materials
Organics represent over one-third of materials being sent to landfills, and over 50% of total waste.
Decrease Erosion
Organics represent over one-third of materials being sent to landfills, and over 50% of total waste.
Reduce the Need to Water
Organics represent over one-third of materials being sent to landfills, and over 50% of total waste.
Reduce Pesticides
Organics represent over one-third of materials being sent to landfills, and over 50% of total waste.
Composting Made Easy
WTT’s biological tunnel process is individually controlled in order to provide each batch with a tailor-made treatment. WTT’s fully automated process allows the operator to set process parameters to adapt different waste categories and seasonal influences.
Its modular construction and versatile control software interface allows the same facility to treat organic waste optimally in short a period of time, maximizing processing efficiency and keeping environmental conditions strictly under control.
Key Features
In-Vessel Composting
The WTT-staff were involved in the first biowaste-tunnel-composting-installation in 1994 and have subsequently built over 1300 tunnels. Throughout this time WTT has continuously improved the design and identified methods of reducing the capital and operating costs.
HIGH QUALITY – HIGH EFFICIENC

Robust concrete tunnels with efficient aeration system in the floor

Climate control system on modular skid frame controlling all parameters

The WTT fans ensure optimal operation at minimal energy usage
Maturation Processes
After the first high intensity composting in the tunnels optionally maturation bays or aerated windrows can be added to achieve the required maturity. These system can also be applied as a primary process for leave and yard waste.

Your Soil
After the composting process the compost is refined to your specs by mechanical treatment to make the final product.
Compost is the single most important ingredient for a healthy and productive soil:
- It provides essential organic matter to the soil for health and vitality
- Compost aids nutrient retention, reducing fertilizer cost
- It helps to enhance soil structure and decrease erosion
- Water retention is improved, giving better drought resilience
- Compost naturally suppresses plant diseases
